The brief

The Bermondsey Square Hotel first came to us to refresh their private first-floor terrace — a long, boxed-in outdoor space overlooking the square, used all summer for guest service and events. The old surface had worn through, the space was tired, and it needed to feel like an outdoor room again.

Our approach

On the terrace we took the space back to a clean base and rolled out fresh, high-quality artificial lawn across the full length. Soft underfoot, sharp in every light, and holding its colour through the year in a space that is in constant use. Café tables and planters were set back in, and the terrace was ready to serve guests the same day.

The build

The terrace install was scoped tightly around live hotel operations — clearing the old surface, preparing the base and laying the new lawn in careful sections without shutting the space down. Some time later, the hotel brought us back for a second commission: the ground-floor street seating along the front of the building on Bermondsey Square. Same principle, more visible location. Fresh artificial lawn laid the length of the frontage in a single continuous run, with the hotel’s café setup moved back into place around it.

The result

Two connected outdoor spaces at the same hotel, both quietly doing their job. The private terrace works hard for guests through the summer without ever looking tired. The street frontage softens the hotel’s public face on the square and frames the café setup the way the building deserves. No watering, no cutting, no seasonal patches — and a first impression that lives up to the rest of the building.
